The Importance of Moisture Detection and Thermal Imaging: There May Be More Than You Can See
People, including many companies who claim to be water damage specialists, tend to overlook the migration of water into structural components other than the carpets. Water will always take the path of least resistance. This means that water, given the right circumstances, will travel through walls and into adjacent rooms. Water will also tend to wick up drywall the same way a paper towel can absorb water upwards when saturated.
At Flood Zone Restoration, we make sure to check all areas that could be affected including walls, furniture, beneath linoleum and tile floors, etc. Pockets of trapped water can lead to fungal growth if not dried properly and quickly. We use moisture detection equipment combined with thermal imaging to locate affected areas.
